A TikTok profile sorts uploads by date, newest first. Pinning breaks that order.
It lets you lift up to three of your own clips into the top row, where every visitor sees them before anything else. Below is how to pin a video on TikTok, how to unpin or swap one, and what to check when the Pin button won't show up.
The Pin option sits inside each video's menu, not in Settings. Open TikTok on your phone and follow these steps:
No save or confirm screen follows. The clip jumps to the first row of your grid with a red Pinned label on its thumbnail.
Grid looks the same? Pull down on your profile to refresh it, or close TikTok and open it again.
TikTok moves its menus around between updates and devices. On one phone the video menu opens from three dots. On another, the share arrow opens the same panel.
Both routes end at the Pin button. If you don't spot it, swipe the bottom row of that panel sideways.
TikTok allows three pinned videos per profile. Together they fill the top row of your grid.
The latest pin takes the first slot. So the order follows when you pinned each clip, not when you posted it.
A fourth pin needs a free slot. Unpin one of the current three, then pin the new clip.
Those three thumbnails are the first thing people hit on your page, and our guide on checking who visited your TikTok profile explains who that audience tends to be.
Removing a pin takes the same path. Open the pinned clip from your profile, tap the three dots or share arrow, and choose Unpin.
The video drops back to its original spot in the grid, based on its upload date. Views, likes and comments stay as they were.
To swap, unpin the clip you want to retire, then pin its replacement. Looking at which clips hold viewers longest in your analytics before swapping makes the choice easier.
A missing or failing Pin button comes down to a short list of causes:
Some creators say the pin fails on the first try and works after reopening TikTok. Worth one more attempt before you dig deeper.
One more thing. On a private TikTok account, only approved followers see your pinned row at all.
Any account can pin. There's no follower minimum, whether you have zero followers or a million.
Ownership is the real limit. You can pin your own uploads, but not reposts or clips made by someone else. For videos you like from other creators, Favorites is the closest option.
Replies have their own version of this. Pinning a comment under your TikTok uses a press-and-hold method instead of the video menu.
Pinned clips act like a shop window. Visitors skim the top row and decide there whether to follow.
Creators and social media marketers point to a few common picks:
Some creators push back on pinning your most-viewed clip by default. Their point: visitors care about what they'll get from following, not your view count.
Pinning won't fix reach by itself. If fresh uploads stall, the usual reasons TikToks get no views are worth ruling out.
Keep a replacement in the works, too. Saving a TikTok draft to your camera roll lets you prep the next candidate before a slot opens.
You can pin three videos on TikTok at once. They fill the top row of your profile grid. To pin a fourth, unpin one of the current three first.
Pinning places a clip where profile visitors look first, which can add views from profile traffic. The video still stays eligible for the For You feed after you pin it.
No. TikTok lets you pin videos you uploaded yourself. Other creators' clips and reposts can't be pinned to your profile, though you can save them to Favorites.
Reddit threads can show whether other users hit the same bug. The standard fixes are basic: update TikTok, restart the app, and confirm the clip is yours and public.
Treat Reddit tips as anecdotes. Some creators pin top performers, while others pin an intro clip that tells visitors what the account posts. Try both and compare follower gains in TikTok analytics.
